I'm a happy Hunter. Last night was a GREAT night for WoW - I reached not only 56, but 57 as well (as did Ocean) and can taste Outlands. And we FINALLY got a run through BRD that didn't fall apart. We wiped a total of three times, and flew through the rest of it. We really shouldn't have been able to: A BM Hunter, two (non-Resto) Shamans, a Balance Druid and a Warlock (who's talents I didn't inspect) with his imp.
My new owl tanked like a pro. With my shoddy Mend Pets (for some reason, I can time my Arcane and Multi with the GCD, but not Mend Pet...), he only died three times, and usually on the heavier hitters that ignore armor mitigation. Also tanking was the Balance Druid - 5500 armor that can self-heal makes for a great tank, we found. Ocean and the other Shaman swapped out on heals half way through, and the Warlock made sure we had a rezzer with SS on him at all times. (On top of the anhks for the Shamans, we actually needed it at one point.) We killed every boss in sight, and only, finally, wiped for good when we tried to take on the small army tucked away in a back corner of the dungeon. Probably on the way to another boss fight.
Ocean and I agree, BRD is a done deal. We were sore and stiff and didn't get to bed until 2:40 AM, but it was worth every minute. We're just never going back. Until we can farm it at 70.
Also, some gates opened last night while we were in BRD. AQ, I think? Anyway, it's a one-time server event, and I'm here to participate! And, if we have more than just me and Ocean (lawlz, tried that and got buried), we can even take the level 60 elites out for those easy blues. Though I think we're too late for that now... Ah well, the entire event will last a lot longer than just 12 hours, with plenty of opportunities for XP and lewts along the way.
Oh, and Ocean got buried in new Enh Shammy gear. A total of 6 pieces or so. Me? I'm happy with my [Ribley's Bandolier] and [Shell Launcher Shotgun], both of which I picked up yesterday. The gun may not have uber stats, but it was a definite upgrade from my [Outrunner's Bow], and the sound of the shots helps with my timing. I'm not nipping into my autoshot when I hit Multi nearly as often now (usually only when I remember to use Multi at the last second).
Now however... I must level Leatherworking, clean out my bank, and possibly even Fish a little. We'll see how bored I get in the meantime.

Holiday Cheer from the Hunter Forums!
Ah, the Official Hunter Forums. I enjoy a good laugh every now and then, so I wander over there after reading my comics/blogs/BRK for the day. Today, I was graced with the discovery of "Huntard teh poor n00b hunter" by Pyren of The Gladiators on Black Dragonflight. Sing along to the tune of Rudolph and enjoy!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Huntard teh poor n00b hunter ~huntard~
had a very shiny bow ~Like the rhok'delar~
and if you ever saw it ~saw it~
you may even say it blows ~like a retadin~
all of the other hunters ~huntards~
used to laugh and call him names ~like count noobula~
they never let poor huntard ~huntard~
join in any of their raids ~like the tempest keep~
Then one [fudged] up kara day
Pyren came to say EL, OH, EL
huntard with your bow so bright
won't you lead my raid tonight?
Then all the hunters loathed him ~what the heck?~
as the /shouted out with hate ~@@%#ing noob~ ~WHUT?~
huntard teh poor n00b hunter ~huntard~
you just wiped the kara raid ~[fudging] n00b~

BRD TPed My Face
I gave in. After reading BigRedKitty for most of my few short months on WoW to avoid being the umpteenth Huntard on my server, I, Xanthelei (...let's just go with Xanth), decided I wanted to rant like him. And oh have I had some rant-worthy material the past 54 levels.
As I gave in after reading through multiple lists of 5 Worst Wipes Ever (my favorite being on Need More Rage's pages - it's gotta suck tanking for rejects that can't figure to run TOWARD the tank when they pull aggro), I decided I'd post my 3 Worst Wipes Ever. The three that come to my mind, anyway.
Confused Kitty
Blackrock Depths has just been eating our faces... It wasn't our first wipe on this run, but it was the one that was most avoidable and entirely my fault. I love Alvar to pieces, but I don't get the AI they gave him. Pathing is one thing - this was entirely another!
We had two mobs to deal with in this room: the main group with the elite commander in the middle along the back wall, and a smaller group of three Medics to the side of the stairs. We get healed and mana'd up, I Dismiss my pet, jump down, and wait for everyone to be ready. Call pet, send him in with a Hunter's Mark, and DPS my heart out.
Suddenly Alvar is running away from the Medic I had him attacking. Along the stairway. Within aggro range of the larger mob. For whatever reason, Alvar had decided to go visit Ocean - my roommate, guildmate, and fellow quester - where he was DPSing (Elemental Shaman), then run back to continue his face-shredding. Five mobs > one pet.
I still haven't figured out what the hell happened there. He wasn't even attacking someone in the other mob, so I can't say it was bad tab targeting. It couldn't have been anyway - I'd been attacking the last Medic for a good three shots before sending Alvar in. And if there hadn't been a wave of 5 more adds that waltzed in out of thin air, we would have owned that room.
Either way, it was Wipe City, and we had to make a corpse run before we could wreak revenge on the surviving Dwarves. At least we killed the Elite before we wiped?
That's MY coffer!
BRD struck us again earlier in the week. We got a 70 healy Preist and a 62 Warrior from our guild to run us through and we were doing fantastically. We didn't once come close to a wipe, and managed to take each boss out easily. Then we got greedy...
There is a room in BRD where you can open coffers and get bags of gems, coins, and shiney bits of gray jewelry. I had plenty of keys, and knew how to use them, as did everyone else. Free lewts FTW! I opened the last coffer door and suddenly the sounds of battle (and a pissed Alvar) surrounded me. We didn't even make it back to the hallway, and I found myself being camped by three golems and one Dwarf.
After a bit of wondering, we decided they had come right as I opened the last coffer door (my box was taunting me in the corner of the room), and we wanted revenge. Shaman self rez is a wonderful thing, and soon everyone was up and ready to go. I Hunter's Mark the first golem to die, and we power through them like they were nothing to claim my last coffer and the Heart of the Mountain for a quest. Revenge is sweet.

The most recent happened just last night. Ocean and I were trying yet again to get a run together for Blackrock Depths. BRD hates us. Every raid we've been in has fallen apart, and last night was no exception.
We had two Pallies, one Shaman (Ocean), myself and another Hunter. And no one is speced to heal. Now, Ocean is a damn good healer when he's got his gear for it, but he just respeced to Enhancement and completely regeared so he could chew up the DPS meters. Yet he had the most mana of the three possible healers, and hadn't the armor to be tanking. So he got to heal. The plan was: the two Pallies attempt to tank, the two hunter pets off tank, and we freeze anyone who is left. Preferably before they get to Ocean to start interrupting heals. That was the plan - no one followed it.
The Pallies pull and just DPS, no real attempt at holding aggro off Ocean. I trap a mob, set Alvar (my ghost-cat - quite proud of him, I am) up to tank a non-elite and try to keep Mend Pet up while DPSing the shit out of the medic. Too bad I'm the only one hitting the medic - everyone else is worried about the Elite Captain.
Medic heals, Alvar wipes, my trap gets AOE'd by the 60 Pally, and Ocean wipes. We all follow in three seconds or less. As we're running back to the instance, Ocean and I quietly agree that these guys aren't worth his self rez and (not so quietly) we all need to DPS the medic ASAP. As we're setting up, someone wanders too close to the same mob as before - and wipe #2 ensues. Right after I rezed Alvar and got a Feed/Mend Pet mix on him.
I was Not Happy.
We did kill the mob the second time, thanks to no body pulls and no one being stupid enough to try to pull when a patrol was near. But the 60 Pally was off and at it again almost as soon as the last Dwarf hits the floor, and we're saving his arse. And again. To avoid a higher repair bill, we agree we just can't run it as a group and that's the end of it. BRD: 3, Draenei:0
